川耗仔食府 Sichuan House Food: One of the Best Chinese Restaurants in Taoyuan

川耗仔食府 (Chuān hào zǐ shí fǔ), literally meaning “Sichuan House Food”, is among my new favorite spicy Chinese restaurants in Taoyuan. Which is saying something since there are many Chinese restaurants in this northern Taiwanese city, like Global Mall’s Kaifan with its swoon worthy spicy peanut chicken.

What makes this Taoyuan Chinese restaurant stand out from the crowd is its aromatic Sichuan spices. Specializing in Sichuan spices, you’ll be numb with pleasure from mala (麻辣) spicy fish stews to peppercorn cumin fried lamb. Just so long as the bright red peppers are avoided as that could turn into a full on battle😂.

With its affordability (dishes are cheeeeap #consideringinflation), laid back vibe, and cozy yet clean atmosphere, this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Taoyuan that you absolutely have to try.

Recommended Dishes

Some like it sweet, some like it sour, but if you’re coming to 川耗仔食府 Sichuan House Food you better like it spicy. With a loaded menu heavy with spicy stir-fried vegetables, meats, and steamed and stewed fish, there is no way you’ll be leaving here hungry.

My absolute favorite from here is the Cumin Fried Lamb and Jicama Carrot that I had on my first visit. Simple but powerful, these dishes are enough to satisfy two hungry people, along with the unlimited rice (for only $10 per person!). If you’re into aromatic spices, then definitely go for these dishes, just make sure to watch out for those Sichuan red peppers…

Two other dishes I enjoyed, and found that there were much spicier than they appeared to be, were the fried peppers and some sort of stir-fried meat. Lamb, maybe? Either way, whatever you order is going to be top notch food from one of the top restaurants in Taoyuan.

Location

Not only is Sichuan House Food one of the top restaurants in Taoyuan, but it’s also in a super convenient location – just a 20 minute walk from the bustling Zhongli Night Market and right by a 7-Eleven!

Finding parking for this amazing Chinese restaurant in Taoyuan is easy too, with the opposite Yang Ming Hospital car park being open late into the night. There’s also free scooter parking available on the sidewalk just outside the restaurant.

Sichuan House Food is open everyday, aside from Thursday, from 11.30am to 2.30pm and 5 to 10pm. While there’s a fair number of seats available, calling ahead is advised for the weekend as the restaurant can get busy with everyone  crowding in to savor what is, in my humble opinion, some of the best food in Taoyuan.

Key (Chinese) Takeaways

Among the many things to do in Taoyuan, Taoyuan street food, predominantly from the old streets or Zhongli Night Market, is often the first thing that comes to mind. Sichuan House Food should be the second, with its affordability, deliciousness, and luscious aromatic spices.

For a satisfactory lunch or dinner, this Chinese restaurant in Taoyuan promises good vibes all around, as well as tantalizing mouth feels from those little green pepper balls of goodness. A definite zinger (and one I will be heading back to very soon).

PS: For those keen on savoring the experience a little longer, grab a packet of fried pig ears for the road! (Some might view this as more mouthwatering than others, I have to admit).

What Other Chinese Restaurants in Taoyuan Should You Try

While there’s not many other Taoyuan chinese restaurants of this caliber, here’s a few worthy of mention (that might even vie for the top spot as some of the best food in Taoyuan):

  • 開飯 Kaifan in Qingpu Globall Mall, right by Rakuten Taoyuan Baseball Stadium.
  • Oops, that’s all I’ve got for now.
