Cheapest 5 star Hotels in Taipei

Let’s get things straight: I’m not a millionaire. And neither (probably) are you. Taipei, on the other hand, caters mostly towards millionaires, or at least people who can afford to pretend to be. With the monthly rent for a single room soaring past 18,000 NTD (roundabout $600 on a bad exchange day) for a classically tiny one-bedroom shared-apartment with a meager excuse for a bathroom – I may be letting my past experiences invade too much in this description – living comfortably in Taipei on a budget is fairly challenging.

Heading in for a short stay in Taipei is, however, a great way to enjoy all the city has to offer without breaking the bank. Some hotels can even provide the fabulous luxury life of a millionaire – albeit just for one night.

So, go on and book your stay-away with some of the cheapest 5 star hotels in Taipei, and don’t forget to check my tips at the bottom of the article for how to find the cheapest prices!

Fullon Hotel Da’an

Fullon Hotel Da'an is one of the cheapest 5 star hotels in Taipei

As the first edition of Taiwan’s popular hotels and resorts chain, Fullon Hotel Da’an is an incredibly satisfying destination. Though the building’s exterior and lobby may exude slightly old-school luxury vibes, the modern interior – complete with a pool, gym, spa, and two restuarants – definitely makes for an unforgettable experience.

Nearby Da’an Forest Park, this luxury Taipei hotel is perfect for guests wishing to explore the city. It’s also surrounded by many restaurants catering to Western and Taiwanese tastes, in the event that Dim Sum and Japanese are not your fancy.

Taipei Garden Hotel

While the exterior for Taipei Garden Hotel suggests a more old-school luxury Taipei hotel, the interior is a completely different world. With the soft mattress and enveloping pillows that have become synonymous with 5-star accommodation, this hotel does not disappoint.

Conveniently located in close proximity to downtown Ximen 西門 and nearby a large Carrefour complex, the hotel offers guests a variety of entertainment. There’s also an open bar of sweets and candy at the Thai Cafe beside the hotel, bringing back old-school Taiwanese life in style.

Caesar Park Banqiao

Although this first branch in the trifecta of Caesar Park hotels that are discussed in this post is technically in New Taipei City, Caesar Park Banqiao has to be on this list, not least because of its gorgeous rooftop pool. Shared with the adjacent Hilton Taipei Sinban, this cosy and extremely photo-worthy outdoor space could definitely make you mistake it for a luxury Taipei hotel (even if it’s not really in Taipei).

Located within walking distance of not one, not two, but three shopping malls (Eslite, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, and MegaCity), the hotel is perfectly situated for all your shopping needs. It’s also easily accessible with the massive Banqiao MRT station close by. In addition to a tempting Krispy Kreme stall, the station is also home to the HSR, TRA, and a bus station.

Caesar Metro Taipei

Another Caesar Park hotel, Caesar Metro, as the name suggests, is a hotel built right above Wanhua MRT Station. With its modern interior and adequate amenities (pool, gym, spa, Chinese and Western restaurants), this hotel makes for a pleasant and fairly inexpensive stay.

The only thing that potential guests should bare in mind is the location. Wanhua district was originally, and some would argue still is, the red-light district. Though the area has seen some examples of gentrification in recent years, we still wouldn’t recommend making eye contact with people in the street – Wanhua is still very much a gang violence area – but y’know, parts of it aren’t that bad. It’s also conveniently located to downtown Taipei and Ximending 西門町.

All in all, a very pleasant stay is ensured when choosing Caesar Metro. Just don’t wander off the main road.

Caesar Park Taipei

As the third Caesar Park hotel to grace this list (and the last, I promise), Caesar Park Taipei is the definition of convenience. Located right opposite Taipei Main Station (TRA, HSR, MRT) and not far from a massive Shin Kong Mitsukoshi shopping mall, the hotel is well situated to say the least.

It’s also got everything you could want for in a luxury Taipei hotel, aside from a pool. But with most rooms coming with a spacious bathtub, who needs a pool really? And with the classic Caesar Park hotel comfy pillows and mattress, you won’t be asking for much more than this.

Evergreen Laurel Hotel

That’s right, the barge that blocked the Suez canal has a hotel. Multiple hotels, in fact, and not just in Taiwan.

The Evergreen Group – known for its Eva Airways, Evergreen Marine Corp. (that’s the shipping container service), and other subsidiaries including the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra (no, I’m not kidding) – is the proud owner of Evergreen Hotels, the company that operates the Evergreen Laurel Hotel.

While the Evergreen Laurel Hotel’s price is among the cheapest 5 star hotels in Taipei, this definitely doesn’t reflect its high standard of quality. Though it does fit more into the old-school luxury Taipei hotel box, the Evergreen will still satisfy all the criteria you’d expect to find in one of the best 5 star hotels in Taipei. Plus the food is delicious.

Fuji Grand Hotel

I know this is a post about the best 5 star hotels in Taipei, but we already have one New Taipei City hotel in the post so where’s the harm in adding another. Located in the outskirts (shorthand for New Taipei) of Taipei City, Fuji Grand Hotel is a new addition to the luxury Taipei hotel scene – it just opened in June 2022.

Though the location is not quite ideal – it’s right by a busy main road with few nearby food choices, unless you’re really into fried chicken – the room is comfortable and ticks all the boxes. If you happen to be attending an event in Nangang and are looking for cheap 5 star hotels in Taipei go, the Fuji Grand is by far one of the best deals you’ll find.

Palais de Chine Hotel

Palais de Chine is a bit of an added wildcard to this post because it really depends on when you book as to whether it’ll be considered one the cheapest 5 star hotels in Taipei. That said, if you do happen to book in advance, the price you’ll pay is a steal compared to what you’d usually have to fork up for a luxury Taipei hotel, let alone a 5 star hotel.

And there’s no doubt that Palais de Chine is among the best of the best 5 star hotels in Taipei. I mean, just look at that lobby.

Tips

If you’re really serious about staying at one of the best 5 star hotels in Taipei on a budget, make sure to keep these three tips in mind before planning your trip away. When applied effectively, you can be sure to find rooms in each of these luxury Taipei hotels for under $3000, making it easy to enjoy Taipei on a budget!

1. Stay on a weekday.

And avoid staying during a public holiday. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are when the whole world swarms on the capital, causing Taipei hotel prices to exponentially rise (sometimes even tripling in amount).

2. Use Agoda or Booking.com.

To ensure you’re able to stay in one of the best 5 star hotels in Taipei and still be able to visit Taipei on a budget, make sure you’re using Agoda or Booking.com to reserve your room.

Although we may earn a small commission through the links related to these sites, they’re truly only mentioned here because of the confidence and trust we have in them. It’s from the experience of traveling around Taiwan that it’s clear Agoda and Booking.com offer the best prices for travelers.

What you’ll love about Agoda: Different membership levels (these are awarded to you after several stays) have varying cashback rewards and discounts on hotels, making your luxury trip away that much more affordable.

What you’ll love about Booking.com: The price listed on the website includes all the taxes and hidden fees, making this platform a solid bet to easily find you the best 5 star hotels in Taipei.

3. Be smart and plan ahead.

In principle, everything is cheaper when you plan ahead. Pre-covid policies being dismantled, this wasn’t the case, so it was fairly easy to find the cheapest 5 star hotels in Taipei just hours before you wanted to arrive. That’s not possible anymore, so it’s in your interests to play it smart and plan ahead with your trip because rooms will run out, even on weekdays.

Enjoy your stay!

Taipei is a beautiful city to explore and, though it may seem challenging at first, it’s certainly doable to enjoy the luxury life in Taipei on a budget. From pools with cityscape views to gourmet buffets, affordable never felt so good.
